“As I was driving down the highway all of a sudden without any warning the front end of my Jeep Grand Cherokee started shaking very violently. I took my foot off the gas pedal and tried to slowly apply the brakes and get the Jeep off the edge of the road. It was really hard to control the car but I did manage to get it off the road. I drove back home on the edge of the road going about 30 MPH with my flashers on. I took my Jeep to my mechanic who replaced the stabilizer bar but it wasn't long before it happened again. …”
NHTSA complaint #10694887, filed 2015-03, 94,139 miles“I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee which had an excessive pull to the right. I took it to a chrysler dealership to have an alignment done. I was told by the dealership that an alignment could not be done as per tech. Bulletin #02-006-04. That some vehicles may have a drift to the right and can only be corrected by replacing the manufactures front upper ball joints with off-set ball joints. I was also told since the vehicle was under the manufactures warranty, they would not cover it, it would cost me approx. $1200.00 to replace their mistake. …”
NHTSA complaint #10173679, filed 2006-11, 42,282 miles“Purchased november 2001, had two recalls for fuel system within two months, dealer told me there was previous recall fixed before I purchased. Engine safety warning light has come on and stayed on several days on seven (7) separate occasions. Dealer claims not to worry cannot figure out why. Plus seat heater went out and had to be replaced, interior heater stopped working except defrost. I believe they are all related and is why the engine safety warning light keeps coming on. Also to note--vehicle sways back and forth over small bumps, like riding a small boat in rough water.”
NHTSA complaint #10013819, filed 2003-04, 2,000 miles“Driving highway speeds, 65 MPH, hit a small bump on the road and the steering wheel began to shake violently. I purchased the vehicle new in early 2002 and this was the first incident. Since then this has happened several more time. Suspect a worn steering damper.”
NHTSA complaint #10532542, filed 2013-07, 130,000 miles“Death wobble unable to steer control auto at 30mph and above unable to repair yet w/over $1000. Spent on issue front end too sensitive unable to drive.”
