Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I am writing to you regarding a persistent creaking noise in the front end of my vehicle when turning the wheel. I have brought the car in twice already for this issue, but the problem has not been identified or resolved. The vehicle is scheduled to come in again for the same issue. While I have been told it is not a safety concern, I am troubled that the source of the noise remains unknown. Without identifying the root cause, I am uncertain how it can be definitively determined that there is no safety risk. …”

NHTSA complaint #11695362, filed 2025-10

“We have an unknown problem with a clunking/creaking noise while driving the vehicle we believe is coming from the front of the vehicle, possibly the suspension or steering. We are not sure we feel safe driving the vehicle since after taking it to the dealer three times in the past year, the dealer acknowledges the clunking but has not been able to identify and fix the issue. We have been told by the dealer it is safe to drive - but if they can't identify and fix the issue - how do they know that to be the case? …”
